Job description

Spikes and Houles Feed Store is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Customer Support Lead to join our team. This key-holder position plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience, supporting daily store operations, and leading by example. The ideal candidate is passionate about our brand, thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, and is committed to developing both their own skills and those of their team.
Availability Requirements
Full-time candidates must have open availability Monday through Sunday, including opening, closing and weekend shifts. Ability to open and close the store during the week is required.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the store
  • Support all aspects of daily store operations including cash handling, maintenance, and cleanliness
  • Deliver and maintain a culture of outstanding customer service
  • Engage customers by sharing product knowledge, including ingredients, benefits, and features
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and care
  • Lead shifts independently and support team members on the floor
  • Assist with training, coaching, and development of staff
  • Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions accurately (including overrides, safe counts, and till reconciliation)
  • Maintain merchandising standards, including stocking, pricing, promotional displays, and floor sets
  • Assist with freight processing, truck unloading, and inventory management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and loss prevention practices
  • Use store technology (computers, handheld devices, scanners, etc.) effectively
  • Support the Store Manager with additional tasks and special projects as needed
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience; cash handling experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong communication and customer engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and retail technology systems
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for learning, training, and team development
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to operate equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (or willingness to learn)
  • Comfortable working in varying conditions, including stockrooms and outdoor elements as needed
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands for handling products and equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Capable of bending, climbing, and reaching as needed
