Job description

Job Summary:
The Production Patternmaker is responsible for translating design concepts into production-ready patterns, ensuring exceptional fit, quality, and consistency across all sizes. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, a strong understanding of garment construction, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Create, develop, and refine production patterns for soft dresses, blouses including draped, bias-cut, and fluid silhouettes.
  • Interpret design sketches, reference samples, and specifications to create accurate first patterns.
  • Lead fit sessions, analyze fit issues, and implement corrections with a strong understanding of proportion, balance, and ease.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Technical Design, and Production teams to ensure design intent is maintained through production.
  • Ensure patterns are production-ready, cost-effective, and scalable across sizes.
  • Oversee grading and ensure size consistency across the full size range.
  • Provide clear construction methods and sewing instructions to factories.
  • Review and correct factory patterns and samples when needed.
  • Troubleshoot fit, construction, and fabric behavior issues, especially for soft, fluid, and delicate materials.
  • Maintain digital pattern libraries and version control.
  • Mentor junior patternmakers when applicable.

Desired Background & Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional patternmaking experience, with a strong focus on soft dresses.
  • Expert-level understanding of draping, flat patternmaking, and hybrid techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of woven fabrics, silks, chiffons, satins, jerseys, and other soft or fluid materials.
  • Deep understanding of garment construction, fit standards, and production requirements.
  • Proficient in digital patternmaking software (e.g., Gerber).
  • Experience working with overseas factories and managing production corrections.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously.

Skills:
  • Experience in luxury or contemporary womenswear.
  • Knowledge of bias-cut garments and draped silhouettes.
  • Experience working with complex constructions, linings, and specialty finishes.
  • Familiarity with size grading standards for international markets.

Base Salary Range:
