As a Construction Site Superintendent you will be responsible for daily field operations on utility-scale solar and heavy civil projects, including mass grading, access roads, electrical collection trenching, equipment pads, and site stabilization, from mobilization through project completion.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years supervising earthwork operations on solar, wind, or heavy civil projects as a superintendent or lead foreman
- Direct supervision of mass grading and trenching operations on contracts of $5,000,000 or greater
- Ability to read and interpret civil and grading plans; working knowledge of GPS machine control (Trimble or Topcon)
- OSHA 30 certification; competent-person qualification for excavation and trenching
- Experience tracking production quantities and field costs against budget
- Travel to active project sites for extended assignments required (Texas, Midwest, and Gulf regions)
- Must be willing to travel
What You’ll Do
- Supervise clearing, grubbing, topsoil stripping, and mass grading operations to design subgrade, including cut and fill balancing across the array area
- Supervise construction and maintenance of site access roads and crane paths, including subgrade preparation, geotextile placement, aggregate placement, and compaction to specification
- Supervise trenching operations for DC and MV collection systems, including excavation, bedding, conduit installation, backfill, and compaction
- Verify GPS machine-control models against survey staking and confirm subgrade tolerances prior to pile installation
- Supervise construction of inverter, transformer, and substation pads to foundation-ready grade
- Implement SWPPP requirements, including installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls, post-storm inspections, dewatering, and final stabilization
- Coordinate soil density testing with the geotechnical firm; maintain proctor and compaction records
- Record and report daily production quantities, including cubic yards excavated and placed, linear feet trenched, and aggregate placed
- Schedule and sequence company crews and subcontractors, including pile, electrical, and racking contractors
- Manage on-site equipment, including dozers, excavators, off-road trucks, and rollers; track utilization and report downtime
- Conduct daily safety meetings, perform excavation competent-person duties, and report incidents in accordance with company policy
