Job description

A geotechnical services company is seeking a Lab Manager or Lead Lab Technician to join their Lakeland, FL laboratory. This role is a great fit for someone with hands-on experience running advanced geotechnical tests who is ready to take ownership of day-to-day lab operations and mentor support staff.
Lab Manager / Lead Lab Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee high-end geotechnical laboratory testing, including CU Triaxial Shear, Consolidation, and Permeability testing
- Manage and supervise one lab technician, providing guidance and quality oversight
- Ensure accurate execution of soils testing procedures and proper documentation of results
- Maintain lab equipment and uphold quality standards across all testing activities
- Support project teams by delivering timely, reliable lab data
- Coordinate daily lab workflow to keep testing schedules on track and prioritize effectively
- Uphold safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable testing standards
Lab Manager / Lead Lab Technician Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting
- Hands-on experience running advanced geotechnical tests (CU Triaxial Shear, Consolidation, Permeability, etc.)
- Experience with soils testing required; NICET II certification a plus
- 4-year degree preferred but not required with sufficient field/lab experience
