Job description

Salary: $21-$23/hr DOE

Mission/ Position Description Summary:
The duties described below for a Laboratory Technician serves as guidance. Personnel should become proficient in the test procedures that HVJ performs as part of quality assurance and quality control for construction materials. Detailed procedures and training will be provided by the Lab Manager.

Assist with performing laboratory testing
Document work performed by number of tests or time spent, as appropriate
Communicate test results to client when required
Provide support on engineering projects as directed
Assist other personnel at the direction of lab manager
Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner
Maintain assigned equipment
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
Additional Key Expectations:
Responsible for making sure that all laboratory work performed meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set forth in the quality manual and the test procedure.
Responsible for making sure that laboratory has the appropriate resources in place to execute testing per applicable standards. This includes but is not limited to acquiring and maintaining equipment, cross training, preparing and reviewing lab reports, client coordination, resolving conflicts, coordination with other departments and administrative requirements.


Preferred Key Criteria/Requirements:

1-3 years of experience working in Civil Engineering/Geotechnical/Construction Materials Testing Lab preferred

Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Good skills in math and communications.
Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples up to 50lbs as a routine part of the job.
Valid Texas Drivers License
