Job description

This role is equal parts laboratory leadership, problem-solving curiosity, and the ability to discuss complex engineering and testing topics with clients. If you enjoy turning muddy samples into clear answers, and making sure a lab runs smoothly while doing it, this role has your name on it.

Your Daily Adventures

• Manage and oversee all operations of our geotechnical testing laboratory

• Plan, supervise, and review laboratory testing (soil, rock, aggregates, special geotechnical tests)

• Ensure ASTM/AASHTO/USACE compliance, calibration, QA/QC, and documentation

• Lead, mentor, and develop lab technicians (and set the standard for excellence)

• Coordinate with project engineers, field teams, and clients to align lab results with real-world needs

• Thorough understanding of test data and the ability to discuss and provide insight to our clients, not just numbers

• Improve lab processes, workflows, and safety practices when required

• Keep equipment humming, samples organized, and chaos at bay

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

• PE license (or on the path toward one)

• Strong hands-on experience with geotechnical laboratory testing

• Working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, CMEC and state DOT standards

• Experience managing people, schedules, and competing priorities

• A sharp eye for detail and a bigger-picture engineering mindset

• The ability to explain complex results to non-laboratory professionals
