We are seeking a motivated and curious Applied AI and Automation Intern to join our team for the summer. This role focuses on applying modern AI tools and automation techniques to real-world software engineering, security, and geospatial support challenges.
This internship is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys solving difficult problems, and wants hands-on experience working in a collaborative engineering environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, perseverance through challenging tasks, and a strong drive to succeed.
What You'll Do
As an Applied AI and Automation Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, including:

  • Developing and maintaining small software support tools for engineering, security, and development teams
  • Using AI-assisted software engineering tools and workflows to improve development efficiency and automation
  • Experimenting with AI technologies, agent-based workflows, and prompt engineering techniques to support operational and engineering needs
  • Assisting with AI-enabled automation solutions for internal processes and developer workflows
  • Supporting rapid prototyping efforts using modern AI development tools
  • Assisting with basic geospatial data management and processing functions
  • Supporting scripting, automation, and internal tooling initiatives
  • Participating in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and learning how engineering teams operate in a corporate environment
  • Collaborating with engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve workflows, and evaluate emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in applied AI, software automation, geospatial technologies, or modern development workflows
  • Exposure to Git, APIs, cloud platforms, or automation frameworks is a plus
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts or AI workflow automation is a plus

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance
  • Must be available for the duration of the summer internship period

Cubic Pay Range:

$27.00 - $42.00 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
