Overview

Lynker is seeking a talented Geospatial Analyst to join our growing team. This role is contingent upon Lynker winning the contract, and an offer will likely not be extended until it is confirmed that the contract has been won.
Responsibilities
Lynker Technologies, LLC seeks a Geospatial Analyst II to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management (OCM) by performing processing, quality assurance, documentation, and management of remote sensing and geospatial data and services. The position will be located in the Charleston, SC office.
The successful candidate will serve as a geospatial analyst in OCM's Science and Geospatial Services Division, assisting with the review, production, and management of remote sensing and geospatial data. The incumbent will work primarily on land cover data and analyses, but will also work with imagery, Lidar data, and Digital Elevation Models.
Core responsibilities of the Geospatial Analyst will include, but are not limited to:
  1. Quality assurance of land cover datasets
  2. Assisting with direct land cover data classification and development from lidar, aerial, and satellite imagery
  3. Compiling and processing ancillary data in support of land cover quality assurance or data development
  4. Running automated tasks for creating land cover-related datasets
  5. Assisting with publishing and managing map services
  6. Writing metadata records
  7. Assisting with the development of derivative products (ex., Storymaps, web apps)
  8. Assisting with the update and quality assurance of the new land cover change visualization and analysis

Qualifications
The Geospatial Analyst selected should have the following:
  1. Master's degree in geography, remote sensing, GIS, or related field OR a Bachelor's degree with six plus years of related experience
  2. Some experience or general knowledge of land cover mapping methods, elevation data, and orthoimagery
  3. Some experience or general knowledge with both raster and vector-based datasets on desktop and web-based platforms
  4. Some experience or general knowledge of geospatial analysis tools such as (or similar to) ArcGIS, Erdas Imagine, QGIS, Global Mapper, eCognition, FeatureAnalyst, and ArcGIS online
  5. Some experience or general knowledge in the development and analysis of land cover and/or change data

The Ideal Geospatial Analyst will have the following:
  1. Knowledge of Python scripting language is required for automation of GIS tasks
  2. Processing and managing data and map services in the cloud
  3. Knowledge or experience related to land cover classification using artificial intelligence
  4. Knowledge of coastal management and coastal processes
  5. Knowledge of coastal hazards and inundation mapping
