Position Summary:

The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the organization's procurement strategy to ensure the cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable acquisition of goods, services, for indirect categories. This role provides strategic leadership across sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, contract administration, risk mitigation, and procurement governance.

The Director partners with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, R&D, Marketing, and other business functions to drive value creation, optimize total cost of ownership, improve supplier performance, strengthen supply continuity, and support the organization's long-term growth objectives.

This position leads procurement teams and serves as a key business partner in translating corporate strategy into sourcing initiatives that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and supplier innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories.
• Lead category management programs that align sourcing decisions with business objectives and market conditions.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, value creation, supplier innovation, and process improvement.
• Utilize market intelligence, industry trends, and supplier analytics to support strategic purchasing decisions.
• Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis across procurement initiatives.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and business partners.
• Develop supplier segmentation and performance management frameworks.
• Lead supplier negotiations to optimize pricing, quality, service levels, and contractual terms.
• Promote supplier collaboration initiatives that support innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular business reviews with critical suppliers.

Procurement Operations & Governance

• Oversee procurement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
• Drive procurement standardization and best practices across the organization.
• Maintain accountability for contract lifecycle management and procurement governance processes.

Risk Management & Supply Continuity

• Develop sourcing strategies that mitigate supply chain, pricing, geopolitical, and supplier-related risks.
• Establish contingency plans and supplier diversification strategies.
• Monitor commodity markets and identify potential supply disruptions.
• Lead risk assessments for critical suppliers and key categories.

Financial Leadership

• Manage procurement spend and deliver measurable savings and value-generation initiatives.
• Develop and monitor procurement budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
• Partner with Finance to track realized savings, cost avoidance, and procurement ROI.
• Support annual planning and budgeting activities through strategic sourcing initiatives.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead, coach, and develop procurement professionals.
• Establish performance objectives and professional development plans.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Build organizational procurement capabilities and succession plans.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality Assurance, R&D, Sales, and Marketing.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on procurement strategy and supplier-related matters for indirect categories.

• Support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives through responsible sourcing practices.
• Promote supplier diversity, sustainability, and ethical business practices.
• Incorporate sustainability considerations into sourcing decisions and supplier evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field required.
• Minimum 10 years of procurement and sourcing experience.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing procurement teams.
• Demonstrated success in category management, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Experience managing significant annual spend portfolios.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and operational improvements.
• Manufacturing, food production, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or related industry experience preferred.
