Job description

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Country Risk Manager to join ourย Credit Risk team. This role is located inย New York City, New York & Pittsburgh, PA.ย 

The Country Risk Manager (CRM) supports the Head of Country Risk in leading the enterprise country risk function. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day team execution, reviewing analytical output, and coordinating country risk activities across jurisdictions, portfolios, and risk stripes. The CRM provides oversight of country risk assessments, monitoring, limits, governance reporting, and regulatory support, while serving as a key delegate to the Head of Country Risk.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support leadership of the enterprise country risk function and manage day-to-day team priorities and deliverables.
  • Review and challenge country risk assessments, business requests, scorecards, annual reviews, and related analytical outputs.
  • Oversee monitoring of sovereign, macroeconomic, geopolitical, and broader country risk developments.
  • Coordinate country risk reporting, emerging risk analysis, and materials for senior management and governance committees.
  • Support country limit oversight, exposure management, and country-related underwriting or recommendation processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business lines and risk disciplines to provide an integrated country risk perspective and align risk assessment with strategic business objectives.
  • Support regulatory submissions, stress testing, audit requests, and other control-related activities requiring country risk input.
  • Help enhance country risk data, tools, policies, procedures, and reporting processes leveraging the use of in-house Artificial Intelligence tools.
  • Act as a delegate for the Head of Country Risk in selected forums and discussions.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in country risk, sovereign risk, geopolitical risk, credit risk, portfolio risk, or related risk management disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of macroeconomic, sovereign, and geopolitical risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to review analytical work, manage competing priorities, and lead team execution.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience communicating to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work across functions and synthesize multiple risk perspectives into clear recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with country limits, governance committees, stress testing, or regulatory reporting.
