Job Duties:
- Plan geophysical surveys and acquire geophysical (e.g., Ground Penetrating Radar [GPR], electrical resistivity, and hand-held magnetometer) data in the field.
- Process and interpret ground-based and aerial geophysical and remote sensing (LiDAR and imagery) data.
- Lead on-site coordination and execution of geotechnical site investigations by managing drilling subcontractors, logging soil samples, and performing geotechnical testing.
- Prepare geophysical, remote sensing, and geotechnical deliverables, reports, and proposals.
- Keep management advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion or near completion of a B.S. or M.S. program in the geological sciences. 1-3 years of related work experience is preferred.
- Experience collecting and processing near-surface geophysical data, specifically with GPR and magnetometers.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and testing, remote sensing fundamentals, and GIS analysis.
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients, orally and in writing, in English.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own work.
- Ability to work independently and manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
- Valid driver's license with a favorable driving record.
- Ability to travel and work in the field for extended periods (up to 2 weeks) or 15-20% overall.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with undeveloped sites and active construction projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD is an asset. Familiarity with other geophysical, remote sensing, and geotechnical software is a plus. Scripting and light programming knowledge to support automated task execution is also a plus.
