Job description

R. Joe Harris & Associates, Inc. is looking for a Staff Surveyor who is seeking an opportunity to make an impact in land development and civil site design. You will partner directly with our engineers to deliver accurate surveying services that bring residential, commercial, and municipal projects from conception to completion.

What You'll Do

  1. Lead surveying for land development and civil site work projects, from boundary surveys to construction staking.
  2. Provide survey data that supports grading plans, utilities, stormwater systems, and roadway designs.
  3. Collaborate closely with civil engineers during planning, design, permitting, and construction phases.
  4. Utilize GPS, robotic total stations, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D for efficient, high-quality deliverables.
  5. Mentor and guide junior staff while serving as technical resource for project teams and clients.

What We're Looking For

  1. Licensed, SIT, or able to obtain South Carolina licensure.
  2. Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field.
  3. 2+ years of experience in land surveying, ideally with land development and site design projects.
  4. Proficiency in surveying technology, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GPS/GNSS systems.
  5. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, clients, and stakeholders.

Why Join Us

  1. Work on impactful land development projects that shape communities.
  2. Collaborative environment where surveyors and engineers work hand-in-hand.
  3. Competitive compensation and full benefits package (health insurance, PTO, and more).
  4. Opportunities for professional growth and development.
