Job description

Vacancy Announcement: GEOINT Systems Engineer
Varantec is seeking a highly skilled GEOINT Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) expert to join our team, providing crucial support for system analysis across all GEOINT processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems in accordance with federal government regulations and requirements. This candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing mission effectiveness through comprehensive system-level analyses to integrate new mission capabilities. Responsibilities:
• Provide direct support to the Program Office staff and Contracts Officer Technical Representatives (COTR) overseeing ground system development contractor efforts to achieve program objectives.
• Provide day-to-day collaboration with Government, FFRDC, SETA, developers, and mission partners to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture, ensuring alignment with site integration needs and processes.
• Support requirements studies, independent review teams, integrated product teams, evaluate concepts of operations, evaluate alternative design architectures, identify major technical issues that must be addressed, identify strengths/weaknesses, and recommend technical and programmatic solutions to the Government.
• Advise senior and mid-level Government managers on acquisition decisions regarding complex projects.
• Provide technical support in developing verification and test approaches as well as reviewing test data for requirements verification.
• Generate, maintain, and manage technical and program documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Develop presentations and create correspondence that captures and conveys technical analyses and positions in concise and coherent products.
• Provide technical expertise in system design, implementation, and maintenance to ensure the system meets the government's security, performance, and availability requirements.
• Assist the Contract Officer Technical Representatives and Program Managers to evaluate contractor performance and ensure project success.
• Drive continuous improvement in GEOINT ground system performance.
• Streamline system engineering activities by improving processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be a US Citizen..
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) with at least ten (10) years of experience; Master's degree in STEM field with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience.
• Prior experience as a System Engineering Technical Assistance engineer or acquisition expert.
• Experience in engineering and/or acquisition of Intelligence Community (IC) and/or DoD spacecraft systems.
• Strong expertise in GEOINT system analysis and agile engineering processes.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering results throughout the system development lifecycle.
Desired Qualifications:
• Previous project management experience of ground or space systems.
• Familiarity with commercial tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA) and government technical standards.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and expertise with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Current familiarity with emerging technologies, trends, and regulations to ensure that the system remains up-to-date and compliant with Government requirements.
