TRT053 Transportation Tech 4 - 20424 Survey Party Chief, Assistant

Pay Grade J

$45,000.00

JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, provides professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. May also serve in a lead role.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under general supervision, perform pre-construction and/or construction surveying at an advanced level. Obtain elevations and levels in establishing vertical control and determine angles and distances in establishing horizontal control as a member of a district survey crew or as part of a statewide geodetic survey and mapping control crew. May collect various preliminary courthouse information. May collect topographical, utility and drainage data. May direct crew in placing stakes marking the survey centerline for construction of a project or in performing right-of-way staking. Act as lead worker and assist crew chief with supervising crew.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  High school diploma or GED AND 18 months of experience at position equivalent.

AGENCY SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advance knowledge of operation of Trimble Business Center, M3, S7, S8, R8, R10.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of surveying procedures and familiarity with basic electronic survey data processing procedure

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated ability to operate survey instruments and related equipment (i.e. total station instrument, high precision level) to perform pre-construction and/or construction surveying

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to locate and recognize pertinent information on maps, plans, aerial photographs and deeds, etc.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to complete job related forms and record equipment readings

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to perform basic trigonometric calculations

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical manuals and instructions related to the job
