Their responsibilities often include assisting with laboratory research, analyzing genetic data, and learning about genetic counseling, testing, or research techniques. This internship provides valuable exposure to the latest developments in genetics and helps interns decide if they want to pursue a career in genetics, research, or healthcare.

What does a genetics intern do?

Interns often support ongoing research studies, help prepare samples for sequencing, and participate in literature reviews. Collaboration is key, as you'll work alongside experienced geneticists, lab technicians, and sometimes clinicians, gaining exposure to both the technical and analytical aspects of genetics. This experience provides valuable insight into lab protocols, scientific methodology, and data management, all of which are essential for future roles in genetics or related fields.
