Generator Field Service Technician - Bakersfield, CA | $38.74-$48.44/hr + OT
Build your career with Quinn Company, your local Caterpillar dealer. We are seeking an experienced Field Power Generator Technician to service and repair standby power systems throughout the Bakersfield area.
If you have experience with diesel engines, generators, electrical controls, or CAT equipment, this is an excellent opportunity to earn competitive pay, receive paid training, and grow with a stable and reputable company.

Starting wage for a Field Power Generator Technician will depend on experience and education. $38.74-$48.44

What You'll Do
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on standby generators ranging from 5 kW to 3,200 kW
  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gas industrial engines
  • Troubleshoot CAT engines and power generation systems
  • Perform load bank testing using established procedures
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC controls, fuel systems, and engine controls
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Work with automatic transfer switches (ATS) and control logic
  • Complete major component repairs and respond to emergency service needs
  • Deliver excellent service to customers
  • Work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety
What We're Looking For
  • At least 3 years of experience in the backup generator industry or a related field
  • Experience with diesel engines, generators, or heavy equipment
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, or Detroit equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Intermediate or higher computer skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications
One-year certificate or Associates degree from a community college or technical school; Five plus year's heavy equipment experience or equivalent education and experience.
