Job description

Electrical Estimator โ€“ Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Bidding

Job Overview:

  • Company: Michigan Quality Electric

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $100,000 - $150,000 per year plus Performance Bonus.

  • Location: Commerce Township, MI.

  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (Weekends and Overtime as needed).

  • Project Scope: Electrical / Controls (Residential, Commercial, Industrial)

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Journeyman License.

The Opportunity: You will serve as a pivotal link between client needs and project execution, designing functional electrical systems and providing precision cost analysis. This role offers the autonomy to manage the bidding process and assist the purchasing activities while directly impacting the companyโ€™s profitability and growth. You will join a high-quality, fast-paced team where your expertise in electrical codes and strategic planning is valued and rewarded.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Analyze detailed blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to prepare comprehensive time, material, and labor estimates.

  • Formulate accurate cost and expenditure statements to aid management in strategic planning and competitive project bidding.

  • Consult with clients, engineers, and architects to discuss project requirements and resolve technical or logistical issues.

  • Coordinate with Lead Electricians to communicate time and material requirements and explain production variances on accepted bids.

  • Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to maintain a directory of reliable partners and ensure cost-effective procurement.

  • Monitor project costs relative to original bids during site visits to ensure financial transparency and project success.

  • Implement specialized cost monitoring and reporting systems to track progress and effect long-term cost reductions.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician License.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in electrical estimating.

  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated experience using professional Electrical Estimating software.

  • Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings, specification books, and local electrical codes.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 6 or more years of leadership or specialized estimating experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of industrial control systems.

  • Design build capabilities.

  • Generator systems.ย 

  • Fire alarm system.

  • Low voltage/cameras/access controls/security/data comm.
