What is Generative AI Finance?

Generative AI Finance refers to the use of advanced artificial intelligence models, such as generative adversarial networks (GANs) and large language models, in financial services and operations. These technologies are used for tasks like automating financial reporting, generating investment strategies, detecting fraud, and forecasting market trends. Generative AI can analyze vast amounts of financial data, create realistic simulations, and generate insights that can help financial institutions make better decisions. As the field grows, it is transforming how banks, investment firms, and other financial organizations approach data analysis, risk management, and customer service.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Generative AI Finance professional, and why are they important?

Job description

Kensho is S&P Global's hub for AI innovation and transformation. With expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and data discovery, we develop and deploy novel solutions to innovate and drive progress at S&P Global and its customers worldwide. Kensho's solutions and research focus on business and financial generative AI applications, agents, data retrieval APIs, data extraction, and much more.
At Kensho, we hire talented people and give them the autonomy and support needed to build amazing technology and products. We collaborate using our teammates' diverse perspectives to solve hard problems. Our communication with one another is open, honest, and efficient. We dedicate time and resources to explore new ideas, but always rooted in engineering best practices. As a result, we can innovate rapidly to produce technology that is scalable, robust, and useful.
Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Equity Research professionals to work as domain experts on a contract basis, helping us design, test, and improve generative AI tools for financial analysis.
In this role, you will contribute your real-world expertise in equity research to shape AI systems that can reason about companies, industries, financial statements, and valuation frameworks at a professional level. This is not a traditional coverage or client-facing role; instead, you will act as a subject-matter expert whose work informs how AI systems learn to perform equity research tasks. This will be a flexible, largely remote arrangement.
Key Responsibilities

    • Company and sector analyses
    • Earnings forecasts and scenario analysis
    • Valuation models (DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions)
    • Investment theses with clearly articulated risks and catalysts
  • Build and review financial models that reflect industry best practices and sound analytical judgment
  • Break down your analytical process into clear, structured reasoning that can be understood and learned by AI systems
  • Answer questions about your process and analytical thinking as your produce research outputs
  • Evaluate AI-generated research outputs for:
    • Financial accuracy
    • Logical consistency
    • Professional tone and structure
    • Data Completeness
  • Provide feedback that helps improve model performance, robustness, and realism
  • Collaborate asynchronously with research, product, and engineering teams to refine workflows and expectations

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 3-7 years of experience in equity research, asset management, hedge funds, or related investment roles
  • Strong command of:
    • Financial statement analysis
    • Forecasting and valuation methodologies
    • Industry and company-level research frameworks
  • Ability to clearly articulate investment logic, assumptions, and trade-offs
  • High standards for analytical rigor, accuracy, and presentation
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, project-based environment
  • Interest in the intersection of finance and AI and how expert judgment can be translated into intelligent systems

Nice to Have
  • Experience writing published equity research or internal investment memos
  • Exposure to multiple sectors or global markets
  • Familiarity with how investors consume and act on research
  • Curiosity about model behavior, edge cases, and failure modes in analytical reasoning
  • Experience working with generative AI, and have perspective on what is and is not useful

At Kensho, we pride ourselves on providing top-of-market benefits, including:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 100% company paid premiums
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
  • 26 weeks of 100% paid Parental Leave (paternity and maternity)
  • 401(k) plan with 6% employer matching
  • Generous company matching on donations to non-profit charities
  • Up to $20,000 tuition assistance toward degree programs, plus up to $4,000/year for ongoing professional education such as industry conferences
  • Plentiful snacks, drinks, and regularly catered lunches
  • Dog-friendly office (CAM office)
