Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Greensboro, NC. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles in the rental fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing corrective repairs on equipment such as telehandlers, boom-lifts, scissor-lifts, mini-excavators, skid-steers, compaction roller, generators, and a diverse selection of construction machinery. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will document service activities, maintain accurate records, and communicate clearly with the service team and management about equipment status and repair needs. The role also involves adhering to safety standards, following manufacturer guidelines, and supporting occasional customer-facing equipment checks or explanations when needed.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for heavy machinery and related fleet assets.
  • Candidates should possess hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment, including familiarity with common construction and rental equipment types.
  • Candidates should possess proven abilities in Equipment Repair, including mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues efficiently and identify effective repair solutions.
  • Relevant technical training, certification, or vocational education in diesel technology, heavy equipment, or automotive repair is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, including proper use of tools, PPE, and adherence to company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for extended periods while working in a shop or yard environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Must possess your own tools of the craft to complete the necessary requirements of the position.
  • Prior experience in equipment rental, construction, or a similar service-focused environment is a MUST..
