Job Summary

The APP is an independent health care provider who coordinates inpatient care through collaboration with the Physician for Critical Care patients The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee

Essential Functions

  • Provides comprehensive critical care services to patients in the ICU and IMCU including assessment diagnosis and management of complex high acuity conditions
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills communicates effectively and demonstrates effective time management
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in coordinating aspects of patient care within a critical care environment
  • Demonstrates the ability to compassionately interact with patients across different areas of care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds care planning and family discussions
  • Performs appropriate interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic testing
  • Perform and or assist with invasive and noninvasive procedures in accordance with hospital privileges and scope of practice
  • Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing
  • Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary
