Job description

General Merchandise Manager

Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Satisfies the customers' needs with a well stocked department to promote optimal opportunity for sales. Maintains corporate and state sanitation regulations. Responsible for the overall operation of the General Merchandise and HBC department to include financial controls, inventory ordering, shrink controls, and associate training and development. May be responsible for the store operation on certain nights of the week as designated by the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for meeting the budgeting and financial aspects of the General Merchandise department. Includes budgeted sales, payroll, gross profit and shrink.
  • Responsible for control of all inventory levels and compliance with the CGO process. Support CGO initiatives fully. Conducts mandatory cycle counts.
  • Ensure that GM and HBC departments are well stocked and presented within all corporate standards to include pricing, shelf allocations and unit tags.
  • Responsible for coordinating the merchandising of all GM products.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and development of all associates within the General Merchandise department. Manage associates within the department and ensure that all associates adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other department managers in display merchandising and handling of general merchandise products to maximize sales.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and organized workstation, according to 5S standards, at all times. Maintain shelf conditions according to company programs.
  • Receive all warehouse and vendor general merchandise products (Dexing) accurately. Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives. Education and Experience Satisfactory performance reviews. Strong communication skills. High School Degree or equivalent. 3+ years of related experience.
