JOB DESCRIPTION

General Manager – Game On Sports Bar

Are You the Ultimate Sports Fan?

At Game On, sports aren't just on the TVs—they're part of our DNA. We're looking for a General Manager who knows the difference between Opening Day and Game 7, understands why March Madness matters, and gets excited about a packed house before kickoff.

If you're a passionate leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, loves building great teams, and is obsessed with delivering unforgettable guest experiences, we want to meet you.

Position Summary

The General Manager is the Head Coach of Game On. You are responsible for every aspect of the restaurant's success—from creating an electric atmosphere on game days to building a winning team, driving sales, controlling costs, and ensuring every guest leaves wanting to come back for the next big game.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll be visible on the floor, coaching your team, engaging with guests, solving problems, and leading by example.

What You'll Do

Lead the Team

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop an exceptional management and hourly team.
  • Create a culture built on hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and fun.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings that energize and prepare the team.
  • Hold managers and staff accountable to performance standards.
  • Build future leaders through coaching and development.

Own the Guest Experience

  • Ensure every guest receives genuine, memorable hospitality.
  • Create an exciting game-day atmosphere before, during, and after every event.
  • Personally interact with guests and build relationships with regulars.
  • Resolve guest concerns immediately and professionally.
  • Maintain exceptional food, beverage, cleanliness, and service standards.

Drive the Business

  • Manage sales, labor, food cost, beverage cost, and profitability.
  • Analyze financial reports and create action plans.
  • Increase sales through local marketing, community involvement, and special events.
  • Maximize revenue during major sporting events.
  • Execute promotions flawlessly.

Operations Excellence

  • Ensure food safety, sanitation, and alcohol compliance.
  • Maintain all restaurant equipment and facilities.
  • Manage inventory and purchasing.
  • Create efficient schedules that balance service and labor goals.
  • Ensure every shift runs smoothly and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

You Must:

  • Be a genuine sports fanatic who follows professional and college sports.
  • Love the excitement of game days and major sporting events.
  • Have experience leading high-volume restaurants, sports bars, or hospitality operations.
  • Be an energetic, visible leader who leads from the floor—not the office.
  • Thrive under pressure and make smart decisions quickly.
  • Have outstanding communication and leadership skills.
  • Be passionate about developing people.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience.
  • 2+ years as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager.
  • High-volume restaurant or sports bar experience.
  • Strong P&L management experience.
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory, labor management, and financial reporting.
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • TIPS or alcohol certification (where required).

The Winning Playbook

Our General Manager is expected to:

  • Know the sports calendar and capitalize on every major event.
  • Create an atmosphere guests can't wait to be part of.
  • Build a team that loves coming to work.
  • Deliver exceptional hospitality every shift.
  • Protect profitability while never sacrificing the guest experience.
  • Be present, approachable, and engaged with both guests and staff.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $87,000–$100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health insurance benefits.
  • Dental insurance benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement plan available after one year of employment.
  • Paid time off and company benefits.
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Opportunity to lead a high-energy concept within a growing hospitality group.
  • Career growth opportunities within the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to be active in a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk during service periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and major sporting events.
  • Thrive in a loud, energetic, high-volume environment.

What Success Looks Like

  • Highly engaged team with low turnover.
  • Consistently outstanding guest satisfaction scores.
  • Strong financial performance and cost control.
  • Spotless, organized restaurant.
  • Packed dining room during every major sporting event.
  • A reputation as Boston's best place to watch the game.

We're not looking for someone who simply manages a restaurant.

We're looking for someone who treats every shift like Game 7, every guest like a season ticket holder, and every team member like a future MVP.

If you live for sports, love hospitality, and know how to build championship teams, Game On is ready for its next Head Coach.
