Your objective is to live, teach, and demonstrate MOD Pizza culture in all interactions with your squad and guests, while maintaining the profitability of your restaurant.

You will spend your time in two (2) key areas.  The first is working shoulder to shoulder with your squad coaching and supporting them and modeling a great guest experience. The second is admin work, where you are focused on making business and community engagement plans as well as completing other GM specific tasks.

Success in this role is measured through managing the restaurant's financial performance, and just as importantly, by developing others and inspiring them to reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities

Leading through other leaders is key to success in the GM role, by ensuring your delegations are executed, while keeping full accountability of all performance in the restaurant.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and/or maintain restaurant performance and/or results, by regularly reviewing restaurant results and develop action plans to achieve success, using MOD tools (P&L, scorecard, etc.).
  • Own restaurant staffing. Be proactive in building talent pipelines and seek support ahead of a crisis. Continuously work toward being a kind and compliant interviewer, utilizing the tools and trainings provided. Every candidate is a guest too, and we want to uplift the dignity of every applicant.
  • Follow policies and timelines regarding all required employee processing and compliance documentation throughout employee lifecycle.
  • Utilize MOD training plans to help move newly hired squad along on their learning journey, so they see the impact of their contributions quickly. Recognize that training is not static, by continuously assessing every learner and providing the right level of support and direction to execute MOD standards.
  • Be a proactive community engagement ambassador, championing how MOD and the community lift each other up. Positively impact the restaurants' financial performance through the execution of fundraising, catering, and other community initiatives.
  • Utilize forecasts and the labor model to thoughtfully plan and distribute staffing and schedules in a timely manner. Accommodate schedule requests and flexibility, when possible, but not at the expense of appropriate staffing levels to deliver on the unique MOD experience.
  • Maintain MOD's Loss Prevention and Asset Protection procedures regarding cash handling, food safety, and restaurant safety & security.
  • A key responsibility of a GM is to manage squad performance in the restaurant. This includes timely performance feedback and holding everyone accountable for following established standards and procedures while building a growth mindset culture.
  • Own, delegate and manage ordering and inventory functions to ensure restaurant performance meets targets
  • Read and comprehend all internal communications impacting restaurant operations. Communicate the information and take the necessary actions in an expected time frame. This may include attending meetings, huddles, and training events to stay current on upcoming initiatives.
  • Build a strong working relationship with vendors and internal facilities team to ensure restaurant stays in optimum condition to deliver consistent high-quality experience to guests and squad.
Demonstrating our values in the following ways:
  • Resilience - Embracing change and seeking to learn and improve every day for yourself and your team. It's not perfection, it's a commitment to progress and imagining what's possible together.
  • Humility - A humble leader can take responsibility for errors and find the opportunity to grow, while still quickly recovering and moving themselves and the restaurant forward. Recognize that only through the work of others can we accomplish great things. Be willing to express appreciation for the service of others. Show compassion, understanding, and a willingness to authentically support others without judgment.
  • Care & Accountability - The GM sets the tone for how accountability through compassion lives in the restaurant.  Great leaders know that learning and coaching happen at the same time. Only from a place of integrity, honesty, and inclusion can we yield positive results.
  • Curiosity - Demonstrating and building a culture of curiosity will impact success more than you may realize.  Through curiosity, you and your squad can anticipate what the restaurant, guests, and other squad will need, while also building connections in the process.
