Job description

The Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill is accepting applications for production positions (i.e., paper machines, coating preparation, stock preparation, shipping), Rate of pay is $31.06 per hour, plus shift differential. The mill is a 24/7 operation so candidates must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Candidates need to be capable of moving to the most senior operations positions in the mill.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum age of 18
  • High school diploma, HSED, or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Pass selection/testing criteria
  • Problem solving skills
  • Mechanical ability
  • "Safe from the Start" attitude
  • Overall positive attitude
  • 2 years of work experience (manufacturing preferred)

Essential Job Functions Include the Following:
  • Assists Paper Machine Winder Operator and Hot Soft Calender Operator.
  • Cuts and notches cores, installs core plugs.
  • Returns empty spools to paper machine using bridge/overhead crane.
  • Cleans paper machine equipment and rolls using hoses, high pressure washers, sponges, etc.
  • Assists paper machine crew, e.g., slabs paper, puts up splices, cleans rolls and helps tail (thread) the machine after a break.
  • Work in extremely hot areas and around high-speed moving equipment
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Push and/or pull up to 130 pounds
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Considerable amount of walking, reaching, turning, and twisting
  • Read and use measuring devices
  • Legible handwriting
  • Perform basic math and data entry
  • Using a computer system to assist with manufacturing process and ability to understand computer reports
  • Comprehend and following written procedures and policies
  • Regular, predictable attendance
  • Working all days of the week (all operations are 24/7)
  • Working shifts (7-3; 3-11; 11-7; sometimes all 3 within the same work week)
  • Working overtime as business needs dictate
  • Additional essential job functions are applicable to specific jobs.
