POSITION OVERVIEW
The Crop Production Specialist - Fertile, MN is a hands-on, field-focused role that supports the day-to-day farming and crop production operations of our seed production acres. This position works alongside experienced team members to assist with in-field management, equipment operation, planting, crop care, and harvest activities.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and being involved in all aspects of farm operations, while gaining practical, real-world experience in native seed production. It offers a strong opportunity to learn how seed crops are grown, managed, and harvested from the ground up.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field & Crop Support
  • Assist with daily farming and seed crop production activities, including field preparation, planting, fertilization, irrigation, weed control, and harvest support
  • Help carry out in-field tasks required to maintain healthy crops and support seasonal production goals
  • Participate in native seed crop establishment, maintenance, and harvest under the guidance of experienced operators
Equipment Operation & General Farm Work
  • Operate farm equipment such as tractors, sprayers, planters, and other machinery as trained
  • Perform routine equipment checks, basic maintenance, and general farm upkeep
  • Support safe and efficient operation of equipment during planting and harvest periods
Crop Monitoring & Troubleshooting
  • Assist with scouting fields for weeds, pests, crop stress, and other issues
  • Report observations to supervisors and help carry out corrective actions as directed
  • Learn best practices related to soil health, crop timing, and in-field decision making
Harvest & Operations Support
  • Support harvest operations, including staging, handling, and post-harvest field activities
  • Assist with general farm operations and seasonal demands as needed

Requirements
  • Hands-on farming experience, preferably in seed production or row crops.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, soil science, and crop management practices.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm equipment, including tractors, planters, and sprayers.
  • Ability to work long hours in the field, including peak seasons.
  • Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL or pesticide applicator license is a plus).
