The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the Long-Term Replacement Special Education Mathematics Teacher position.ย 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

ย  Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited college/university.

ย  Possession of a valid certificate as a Teacher of the Handicapped or Students with Disabilities in the State of New Jersey.

ย  New Jersey Department of Education Teacher of Mathematics or Middle School with Subject matter Specialization in Math 5-8 Standard Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standings (CEAS) or Certificate of Eligibility (CE)ย 

Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.ย 

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ย  Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.ย 

Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and prepares progress reports.ย 

Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the district.ย 

Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and special abilities.ย 

Instructs students in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.ย 

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment.ย 

Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction.ย 

Develops and maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.ย 

Supervises out-of-classroom activities for students during the assigned working day, as required.ย 

Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.ย 

Identifies students' needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.ย 

Communicates with parents and staff members on the individual student's progress and development. Maintains basic attendance accounting and business service as required Develops and participates in the sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees.ย 

Acts as a resource person on an interdepartmental level to relate appropriate aspects of his/her subject area to other subject areas.ย 

Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.ย 

REPORTS TO: Principal SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT

ย Salary Range: Current starting salary range $62,600 -$70,110 as per the 2023-2026 SEA Contract

ย Employment Period: October 8, 2026 February 16, 2027ย
