At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.


We are seeking a highly motivated Project Coordinator to join our team in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate will have a background in heavy/civil construction office management and/or field engineering, along with strong written communication skills and experience in project coordination or project management.


In this role, you will support both the operations and administrative functions at the job site, working closely with on-site managers, engineers, inspectors, and other team members. Key responsibilities will include managing job site deliveries, tracking materials, administering payroll, and handling field office scheduling needs.


While this position will be based at our Nashville, TN job site, candidates should be open to future travel or relocation to other project sites as needed.


This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level construction manager or engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in heavy/civil construction, particularly in the FAA and aviation industry sectors.



What You'll Do:

Field Management and Coordination Activities

  • Track project progress and provide reports as needed or requested.
  • Monitor construction activities, especially subcontractor work, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Maintain material inventories and manage associated tasks.
  • Perform regular (weekly) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections.
  • Coordinate activities with utilities companies, including submitting meter-reading requests as needed.
  • Request and renew jobsite permits, such as “Hot Work.”
  • Assist the Project Manager with data gathering, writing, reviewing, and submitting submittals and product data.
  • Maintain up-to-date revision releases of project documents.
  • Act as the liaison between engineers, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and clients.
  • Schedule and manage subcontractor meetings.

Business Office Activities

  • Manage onsite deliveries, sales solicitations, and office phone communications.
  • Track and compile weekly payroll; ensure accuracy and interface with the Payroll Manager.
  • Support corporate controllers and jobsite managers with basic accounting tasks, such as payables.
  • Procure materials and parts, research pricing, and schedule deliveries.
  • Cost-code delivery tickets and manage material billings.
  • Assist superintendents and project managers in preparing for job-related meetings and reports.
  • Support new-hire onboarding and assist with other talent administration tasks.
  • Maintain inventory and manage office supplies, PPE, and first-aid equipment.
  • Complete administrative tasks associated with jobsite subcontractors.
  • Monitor weather conditions that may impact the jobsite and alert the crew as necessary.
  • Keep the office environment clean and manage any required outside cleaning or maintenance services.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.


What We Look For:

  • At least one year of experience with a construction company or job site. Experience as a Field Engineer or Project Engineer in heavy/civil construction is a plus.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and ethical decisions.
  • Open to up to 100% travel and/or relocation for future roles.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
    • Willingness to travel
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
