Key Information:

  • Hours: Based on a 44-hour work week; however, overtime is required during the busy season.
  • Must be willing to working evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:

  • Work with Superintendents, Project Managers, and sub-contractors to increase safety awareness and improve safety practices.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Monitor labor productivity and report progress updates to the superintendent.
  • Contribute to creating and execute safety plan.
  • Responsible for safety on site.
  • Lead and assist in weekly safety meetings on sites.
  • Lead and participate in toolbox meetings.
  • Assist in investigation and reporting of incidents.
  • Supervise workers and coach them to higher safety culture and productivity.
  • Manage material inventory, equipment maintenance, and tool tracking.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
  • Ensure that all quality documents are being signed off.

Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or certified as a Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands-on construction experience with prior leadership duties.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • A valid driver's license with an insurable driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • CSTS 2020 or SCOT and WHMIS 2015 required.
  • You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes and produce workable solutions and work positively within a team to achieve a common goal.
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence. (LSE Proficiency level certified)
  • A reliable means of transportation is required.
  • Proficient English language skills required.

Education: Completion of high school or equivalent is required or certified as a Journeyman Carpenter.
