Job description


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after-hours when on call

  • Make daily mechanical check on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases and walk-ins. etc.

  • Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and make necessary repairs.

  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections and records required information and maintains jurisdictionally applicable records, EPA forms and required documentation in both paper form at store and electronic in Corrigo and Trakref.

  • Monitors preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notifies Area Refrigeration Manager of issues or problems with outside contractors.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions and recommending further action.

  • Maintains a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner as required.

  • Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.

  • Operates EMS building controls and automation systems. Fine tune operating parameters. Adjust set points and schedules. Fully understand and modify building control sequences and operates the EMS / BMS systems.

  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as: ordering material and writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports via company supplied electronics.

  • Perform all duties in a timely, efficient, & professional manner.

  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area in mechanical room, roof, service vehicle, etc.

Qualifications: The following are preferred:

Education Level:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of Refrigeration/Mechanical school or completion of a minimum of three years apprenticeship .

Experience Level:

  • Minimum of three years in Grocery Refrigeration and HVAC related work.

Skills and Experiences:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.

  • Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.

  • Able to maintain proper neat uniform appearance of Company provided work shirt and employee provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required including arc flash and safety glasses.

  • Must be computer literate. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification

  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.

  • General record keeping skills.

  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.

  • Ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work is performed in both indoor and outdoor work environments.

  • Ability to perform manual labor.

  • Incumbent may use various trade tools, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.

  • Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching is required in completion of job duties

The pay range is $50.00 to $62.00 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 100% based on assigned geographical area.
