Job description

INTERNSHIP - Newsroom
The Pantagraph, located in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, is seeking a creative, motivated student journalist for a 10-week paid internship this summer.

We want our interns to walk away with a rewarding, real-world newsroom experience, a collection of great articles and the skills they need to develop into the next generation of journalists. 

Qualified candidates should be inquisitive self-starters who can produce compelling content for our digital and print platforms. Interns should feel empowered to find and pitch great stories about our increasingly diverse communities. We want multitaskers who can juggle multiple assignments and embrace all facets of multimedia storytelling. 

As a general assignment intern, you’ll write news stories, cover local events and have the chance to help with breaking news. Collaboration is essential to our work, and you’ll spend the summer working alongside our team of reporters and editors, gaining invaluable experience.

Candidates should be enrolled in college and working toward a journalism degree OR be a recent college graduate. Experience at a college newspaper is strongly preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to write clearly and concisely, translate complicated information into stories of broad interest, and represent the newspaper with tact and professionalism. Excellent spelling and grammar skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively are required. Must have access to a vehicle. The internship will be full-time, June through August. Times and days of work vary but may include evenings and weekends.
