Job description

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead power generation projects from initial planning through final closeout. This position is responsible for coordinating project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables while maintaining effective communication among customers, technical teams, and organizational stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Project Manager will oversee execution across multiple phases of technically complex projects and maintain accountability for successful delivery.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of project management experience combined with meaningful experience in the power generation industry. This individual should understand the technical and operational considerations associated with power projects and be comfortable coordinating engineering-driven work involving multiple internal and external stakeholders. Strong scheduling, cost management, risk mitigation, client communication, and organizational skills are important for success in the position.

Why Join Our Client?

Our client is an established provider of engineering and technical solutions supporting the power generation industry. The organization works with customers on technically demanding projects involving power generation equipment, plant systems, engineering services, upgrades, commissioning, and operational performance.

This position provides an experienced power professional with substantial ownership over projects from planning through completion rather than responsibility for only one phase of execution. The Project Manager will work directly with customers, engineering and operational personnel, and company leadership while managing projects with both domestic and international exposure. The combination of technical complexity, customer interaction, and end-to-end project responsibility makes the position well suited for a Project Manager who wants broad ownership of power generation work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead power generation projects from planning and scope development through execution, completion, and closeout while maintaining alignment with established objectives.
  • Manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, deliverables, and resources to maintain progress and meet contractual and operational expectations.
  • Coordinate engineering, operations, customers, and other project stakeholders to resolve issues, clarify requirements, and maintain alignment throughout execution.
  • Monitor project performance and identify schedule, cost, resource, and execution risks, developing appropriate mitigation plans when issues arise.
  • Maintain detailed project schedules and documentation while providing accurate reporting on progress, budgets, risks, resource requirements, and upcoming milestones.
  • Manage customer expectations through clear communication regarding project requirements, deliverables, schedules, progress, and changes.
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate follow-up activities to maintain accountability, resolve outstanding issues, and keep project teams focused on critical priorities.
  • Apply established project management and execution processes while balancing technical, operational, and business requirements.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of project management experience involving the planning and execution of projects within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or managing projects within the power generation industry.
  • Working knowledge of power generation or utility systems and applicable industry standards.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, deliverables, risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations across the project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong technical communication skills with the ability to develop clear project documentation and communicate effectively with customers, technical personnel, and organizational stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, or workstreams while maintaining schedule and execution discipline.
  • Ability to travel to customer and project sites domestically and internationally based on project requirements and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, project management, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • PMP, CAPM, or comparable project management certification.
  • Experience working with EPC contract structures.
