Position Overview 

The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a mid-sized book of commercial insurance clients while supporting the retention and growth of agency relationships. This role partners closely with Producers, carriers, and clients to provide proactive service, coordinate renewals, market accounts, and deliver insurance solutions that align with client needs. 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, technically proficient, and committed to delivering a high-quality client experience.  Most importantly, you are a people person and enjoy creating new relationships with clients and teammates. 
What You'll Do


Client Service & Account Management
 

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned commercial insurance clients. 
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive service and proactive communication. 
  • Coordinate and manage ongoing client service needs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of solutions. 
  • Process policy changes, endorsements, certificates of insurance, binders, cancellations, and other servicing requests. 
  • Assist clients with claims reporting and coordinate with internal resources to help facilitate claim resolution. 
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation within the agency management system. 

New Business Support 

  • Partner with Producers and clients to gather underwriting information for new business opportunities. 
  • Prepare applications, submissions, proposals, and supporting documentation. 
  • Coordinate carrier submissions and obtain competitive coverage options. 
  • Assist with obtaining signatures, collecting required documentation, and managing follow-up activities. 
  • Attend client meetings when appropriate to support the sales and service process. 


Renewals & Account Retention
 

  • Coordinate renewal strategy discussions with Producers and relevant stakeholders. 
  • Market renewal accounts and evaluate carrier responses. 
  • Prepare renewal proposals and coverage comparisons. 
  • Ensure all renewals are processed accurately and in accordance with agency standards. 
  • Review policy audits and facilitate corrections between carriers and clients when needed. 
  • Support account retention efforts through proactive service and coverage reviews. 


Coverage Analysis & Compliance
 

  • Review contracts and certificate of insurance requirements to ensure compliance with insurance obligations. 
  • Analyze coverage requests and identify potential coverage gaps or concerns. 
  • Maintain compliance with agency procedures, carrier requirements, and industry regulations. 
  • Ensure all client files and communications are documented accurately and thoroughly.


What We're Looking For

Qualifications
 

  • Active California Property & Casualty License. 
  • Minimum 5 years of Commercial Lines insurance experience. 
  • Experience managing a commercial lines book of business. 
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages and policy structures. 
  • Experience marketing accounts and working directly with insurance carriers. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience working with middle-market commercial accounts. 
  • Knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and rating methodologies. 
  • Experience reviewing contracts and insurance requirements. 
  • Proficiency with agency management systems and carrier portals.
