About Gen:

Gen is a global company dedicated to powering Digital Freedom through its trusted consumer brands including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, MoneyLion and more. Our combined heritage is rooted in financial empowerment and cyber safety for the first digital generations, and today we deliver award-winning cybersecurity, online privacy, identity protection and financial wellness solutions to nearly 500 million users in more than 150 countries.

Together, we share a collective passion and vision to protect consumers and help them grow, manage and secure their digital and financial lives. Weโ€™re always looking for smart, fearless and high-impact talent who see AI as a teammate โ€“ leveraging it to move faster and deliver meaningful results.

When youโ€™re part of Gen, youโ€™ll have the flexibility, tools and support to do your best work and grow your career โ€“ from flexible working options and time off to competitive pay, benefits and wellโ€‘being programs.

At Gen, we are scrappy and relentlessly customer driven. We create room for healthy debate, experimentation and continuous learning, and we seek out people with different experiences, identities and ideas to join our team. Youโ€™ll work with people who back each other, respect each other and understand that our differences are a competitive advantage.

If this sounds like you, weโ€™d love you to be part of Gen.

About the Role:

As a Corporate Counsel, Product & Commercial, you will be a key legal partner to our product, engineering, UX, marketing and sales teams, helping shape how our consumer and technology products are designed, built, marketed, and brought to market. You will provide practical, businessโ€‘oriented legal advice across the product lifecycle โ€“ from ideation and design reviews, through launch and goโ€‘toโ€‘market, to ongoing customer experience and lifecycle management.

You will also support complex commercial transactions and strategic partnerships that help position our products effectively in the marketplace, with a strong focus on clear, balanced risk management and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In this highly crossโ€‘functional role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver cohesive, aligned guidance to the business.

We are looking for a confident selfโ€‘starter with strong business judgment who thrives in a fastโ€‘paced, highโ€‘energy environment and enjoys simplifying complexity for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Product counseling & goโ€‘toโ€‘market

  • Serve as primary legal advisor to product, UX, engineering and marketing teams on product design, feature development, and customer experience, providing clear, pragmatic guidance that balances innovation and risk.
  • Advise on product marketing claims, offers, and customer journeys, including consumer protection, marketing, and customer communications considerations.
  • Provide guidance on data and technology issues related to our products, partnering with Privacy and Security colleagues to support compliant and trustworthy product experiences.
  • Help stakeholders understand legal issues, options, and tradeโ€‘offs by distilling complex concepts into concise, actionable recommendations for decisionโ€‘makers.

Commercial transactions & partnerships

  • Draft, review, and negotiate standard and bespoke contracts for our various sales and partner channels, including distributor, reseller, technology and vendor agreements.
  • Support the execution of strategic partnerships and inbound license agreements that enable product capabilities and goโ€‘toโ€‘market strategies.
  • Work crossโ€‘functionally with business teams to structure commercial deals in ways that advance business goals while appropriately managing legal and regulatory risk.

Risk management, process & AIโ€‘enabled improvement

  • Provide pragmatic guidance on key risk areas across relevant laws and regulations, in partnership with stakeholders, in a way that supports product velocity and business objectives.
  • Develop and continuously improve templates, playbooks, policies, and procedures โ€“ including leveraging AI and automation tools โ€“ to create scalable, efficient legal support for product and commercial teams.
  • Pilot and champion AIโ€‘enabled process improvements (for example, contract review workflows, playbookโ€‘driven selfโ€‘service, and knowledge management) to reduce friction and improve turnaround times.
  • Manage and effectively leverage outside counsel where needed, ensuring costโ€‘effective and highโ€‘quality advice aligned with internal guidance.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities, think ahead, and help the business prepare for future legal and regulatory developments.

Crossโ€‘functional collaboration & leadership

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with internal clients across product, engineering, UX, marketing, sales and operations; act as a visible, approachable partner to the business.
  • Collaborate closely with Privacy, Brand, Marketing, IP and Commercial Legal colleagues to deliver aligned, coordinated advice and support for key initiatives.
  • Help simplify business complexities and contracting processes to improve speed and effectiveness while maintaining appropriate controls.
  • Contribute to a highโ€‘performing, supportive legal team culture, including coaching others where appropriate and bringing a positive, teamโ€‘oriented mindset and sense of humor.
About You:

Education & Bar admission

  • Graduated from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar (Arizona or California preferred).

Experience

  • 3โ€“6 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or inโ€‘house, ideally supporting technology products or services and commercial transactions.
  • Substantive familiarity with commercial contracts, marketing laws, and consumer protection laws.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial and sales contracts with counterparties and crossโ€‘functional partners.

Skills & attributes

  • Product and commercial mindset โ€“ able to quickly understand product goals and business models, identify key risks and opportunities, and tailor advice to those priorities.
  • Excellent judgment and practical problemโ€‘solving, including knowing when to push back, and how to propose creative, compliant paths forward.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on practical, businessโ€‘oriented advice and the ability to prioritize among competing tasks in a fastโ€‘paced environment.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and drive crossโ€‘functional projects with endโ€‘toโ€‘end accountability.
  • Outstanding English verbal and written communication skills; able to translate legal and technical concepts into clear, concise guidance for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative, teamโ€‘oriented approach and a genuine sense of humor โ€“ someone who contributes positively to team culture and enjoys partnering with others.
  • Intellectual curiosity and growth mindset, with a desire to broaden your skills and experience across new areas of law and business.

Mission & values alignment

  • A deep commitment to our mission to protect and empower people to live their digital lives safely, and to helping our customers and partners thrive in a complex digital world.
