To thrive as a Gem Cutter, you need excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and knowledge of gemology, often supported by a gemstone cutting certification or apprenticeship. Familiarity with precision cutting tools, lapidary machines, and optical grading systems is crucial for producing high-quality gems. Patience, problem-solving abilities, and a steady hand are soft skills that distinguish the best professionals in this field.
