What is a GED proctor?

A GED proctor is a professional responsible for overseeing the administration of the General Educational Development (GED) exam. Their primary duties include verifying the identity of test-takers, ensuring that testing rules are followed, and maintaining a secure and fair testing environment. GED proctors are trained to handle testing procedures and prevent cheating or other forms of misconduct. They may work at official testing centers or educational institutions. Their role is essential to uphold the integrity and validity of the GED testing process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GED proctor?

To thrive as a GED Proctor, you need attention to detail, integrity, and a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as familiarity with standardized testing procedures. Experience with online test administration platforms, scheduling systems, and sometimes certification in test administration is often required. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and professionalism help ensure a fair and supportive testing environment. These skills and qualities are critical to maintaining test security, assisting examinees, and upholding the integrity of the testing process.

What are some common challenges faced by a GED proctor during exam administration?
