We are looking for people who want to move and improve the world! If you have interests in the areas of Computer Aided Design (CAD), product development, manufacturing, and problem solving, you have come to the right place. You can gain real world work experience while making an impact on the design of our products in the Locomotive, Transit, Marine and Stationary, or Mining Propulsion systems businesses. Wabtec's Detail Drafter will work in Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter to create manufacturing drawings that may include anything from sheet metal, heavy fabrication, forged parts, and electric motors, to piping, cabling, or mechanical and electrical assemblies.
This is an hourly union represented position.
Starting wage: $24.97 per hour
Requirements - We are looking for YOU if you:
  • Have completed a minimum of an Associate's Degree or higher in Engineering, Mechanical Design, Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Drafting, or related technical program.
  • Are experienced with 3D modeling, assembly, and drafting work using CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Have working knowledge of drafting practices, manufacturing methods, shop tolerances, engineering, and manufacturing standards.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technically in the CAD domain.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills with an emphasis on technical communication
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing experience.
  • Ability to deliver work to specified schedule with high quality.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Detail Drafter's primary responsibility will be to deliver detailed drawings across multiple areas of the business. This position works closely and under the guidance of one of the team's lead designers. In most cases, the drawings needed are new components that are part of the lead designer's and engineer's conceptual design. The majority of drawings will be simple, one sheet drawings, and on occasion the drawings needed will be sub-assemblies or revisions of pre-existing drawings. All of the work is reviewed and needs to be approved by the lead engineer and a representative of manufacturing.

The Detail Drafting position is located at Wabtec's Erie, Pennsylvania manufacturing site.
