Job Description Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Development Readiness, Manufacturing Readiness leads manufacturing readiness, process maturation, and launch execution for Next Gen Product and process technologies. This role partners with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to ensure producible designs, mature manufacturing methods, and robust production readiness plans that support Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives. The role combines MRL leadership, advanced process development, NPI execution, and operational integration to bridge the gap between early technology development and full-rate production. The leader establishes operating mechanisms, readiness reviews, dashboards, and action plans that connect technology maturation and manufacturing risk reduction to program execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead MRL execution for assigned programs, including assessments, gap closure plans, evidence-based gate reviews, and readiness reporting
  • Translate technology roadmaps and product requirements into executable manufacturing development and production readiness plans
  • Partner with design engineering to improve producibility early in the design cycle by incorporating manufacturing capability, process constraints, and risk mitigation
  • Develop and mature manufacturing processes for advanced or special process applications, including production methods, tooling concepts, fixtures, and shop implementation strategies
  • Lead cross-functional tollgates, tier reviews, CDRL reviews and readiness reviews across engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations
  • Build and maintain dashboards, visual management tools, and action trackers to monitor MRL maturity, launch risk, deployment progress, and SQDC performance
  • Support APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving to reduce manufacturing risk and stabilize execution
  • Work with production teams to ensure processes are ready for rate, yield, quality, and delivery performance
  • Support supplier and production readiness activities where required, including process reviews and deployment planning
  • Capture lessons learned and standardize best practices for future technology insertion and launch execution
  • Foster a lean operating culture using FLIGHT DECK principles, including standard work, daily management, action planning, and problem solving
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • or a high School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, NPI, industrialization, or production readiness.
  • Experience with MRL, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, launch tollgates, or similar readiness frameworks
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with experience turning data into execution priorities
  • Experience supporting or implementing new manufacturing technologies in production environments
Desired Qualifications
  • Aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing experience
  • Experience with advanced or special manufacturing processes
  • Experience leading manufacturing readiness or technology maturation efforts
  • Lean / Six Sigma / continuous improvement training or certification
  • Experience with dashboarding, KPI management, and visual operating systems
  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field
Professional Traits
