Who will you be working with? 

Wabtec employees at the Grove City location operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. Our Wabtec Grove City Engine New Manufacturing facility includes highly sophisticated and automated machine tools and production processes, enhanced by skilled and experienced Wabtec Grove City employees. 

How will you make a difference? 

Our Maintenance 1 employees will operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance.  The Maintenance 1 role requires detail-oriented individuals with a focus on safety, who can perform high quality work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. 

What do we want to know about you?

  • Must be 18 years of age 
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent, or a minimum of 8 years of experience 
  • Must be able to pass all internal testing related to fabrication, machining, assembly, and maintenance
  • Must be willing to operate overhead cranes and industrial trucks

Desired Characteristics:

  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Working knowledge of Lock Out, Tag Out and confined entry processes
  • Working knowledge of 3 and 4 axis machining centers
  • Familiarity with PLC/Numeric controls and/or knowledge of Allen Bradley or GE controller
  • Working Knowledge of DC tooling
  • Familiar with Mazatrol, Fanuc, Siemen, and various other controls
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain quality standards
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

What will your typical day look like? 

  • Perform general maintenance duties related to manufacturing shop operations
  • Repair and maintain hand tools
  • Operate pollution control and hazardous waste equipment
  • Conduct safety inspections
  • Perform dry cycle operations on all machines
  • Diagnose and perform basic plumbing, mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Must have working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Effectively interact and communicate with operators where work has been assigned.
  • Work independently with minimal direction and collaborate as a team member to implement solutions
  • Responsible for the quality of work performed, from prescribed methods, quality and planning instructions in oral and/or written form
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What about the physical demands of the job? 

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (Example: safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and steel-toed boots) 
  • Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and using hand tools 
  • Must be able to work in a tobacco free environment 

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. 

The starting hourly rate of this position is $35.04.
