POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists in accurately carrying out the daily needs of the germination and genetic purity labs by processing samples, preparing reagents, and maintaining lab equipment and surroundings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Responsible for projecting a positive image of GDM Seeds.
  • Prepare seed samples for germination and genetic analysis.
  • Prepare lab reagents in specific manners
  • Conduct herbicide bioassays, germination, and vigor tests.
  • Conduct mechanical purity analysis, moisture testing, and various other seed tests on seed samples.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • This position requires positive attitude towards heavy workloads under tight deadlines on a seasonal basis
  • Ability to work well with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must have good hand eye coordination and be able to manipulate relatively smaller objects efficiently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to determine shades of color; ability to determine differences in size and shapes
  • Ability to work standing for long periods of time in varying temperatures
