The Work:

The Battle Staff VTC Instructor is a key role in providing top-tier instruction to Sergeants through Sergeants Major, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to perform effectively as Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) at battalion and higher-level staff positions

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction to Sergeants through Sergeants Major to prepare them for roles as Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers at battalion and higher-level staff positions.
• Deliver course content via Fort Carson Distance Learning Lab using Video Teleconference (VTC) technology.
• Support the development and administration of practical exercises and final examinations.
• Monitor and document the progress and attendance of a minimum of 16 students per course.
• Maintain records of the progress and attendance of 16 senior noncommissioned officers.
• Perform daily inventories of classroom equipment before and after each class session.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need:

• Requires 2-3 years of experience in the relevant course discipline
• Certain courses may require specific certifications, dependent upon the discipline.
• Preferred qualifications include:
  • Battle Staff ASI 2S (Additional Skill Identifier)
  • 10+ years of military experience
  • Senior rank (E7 and above)
  • Tactical experience, ideally with brigade or division level battle staff or G3 sections
• Should have familiarity with Department of Defense data resources for logistical support (POIs).
• Requires a Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
• Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
• Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft/Dell/HP/XP operating systems and hardware
• ASI 2S (Additional Skill Identifier) Battle Staff Operations
• SQI 8 (Special Qualification Identifier) = Instructor
• 10+ years of military experience
• Senior rank (E7 and above)
• Tactical experience, ideally with brigade or division level battle staff or G3 sections

Working Conditions:
