Position Overview: We are looking for a full-time teacher to instruct Upper School English for students in grades 6-12.

Develop comprehensive, engaging, and real-world weekly lesson plans aligned with GCS curriculum. Integrate God's Word and its principles into daily instruction. Employ effective teaching strategies and age-appropriate technology to enhance learning experiences. Create a positive, engaging learning environment that promotes student success. Collaborate in content area planning and goal-setting with colleagues. Maintain accurate attendance records and grade submissions in accordance with school policies. Attend daily Faculty/Staff Devotions fostering a supportive community. Communicate regularly with parents to strengthen the teacher-parent partnership, a core component of our mission. Participate actively in co-curricular activities, contributing to the vibrant Grove community. Adhere to professional and modest dress code standards. Seek continuous professional development and collaborate with school administration on campus-wide initiatives. Qualifications: A born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character reflect obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures, in alignment with the school's Statement of Faith and lifestyle beliefs. Active membership in a local church that shares the school's Statement of Faith. Proven experience teaching middle or high school students. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.Possession of state teaching credentials or an ACSI teaching certificate, or eligibility to obtain one. Ability to foster an effective classroom environment. Sufficient biblical knowledge to integrate Scripture meaningfully into the curriculum. Ability to serve as a positive Christian role model within the GCS community. A passion for working with young people. Proficiency in computer and technology applications, particularly the Google platform. Candidates should be able to fulfill the physical demands of the position, which may include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, supervising students actively, and riding school buses or vans. Consider the following: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To help students learn subject matter and skills which will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christian men and women. Responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction based upon specific goals and objectives established by Grove Christian School which follows the principles of the Association of Christian School International and the Virginia Standards of Learning. Demonstrates mastery of content area; Integrate God's Word and its principles into daily instruction; Prepares daily instruction and activities using the Grove Christian School's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors; Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs; Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement; Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning; Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior within the classroom setting in accordance with Grove Christian School's guidelines regarding pupil behavior management. Selects and utilizes materials appropriate to the students' instructional levels; Organizes learning activities to achieve specific concepts; Attends and participates in Grove School School in-service training programs, faculty meetings; Attend daily Faculty/Staff Devotions fostering a supportive community; Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school; Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others; Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence; Respects the home responsibility of parents/guardians for their children; Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, Grove Christian School policy and administrative regulations; Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the Grove Christian School policies and practices. Qualifications: KSA's, Education KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of: modern practices, techniques, and methods of teaching; the principles of educational testing and principles and methods of remedial education; effective means of supervision and instruction; the principles and methods of educational research. Ability to: apply modern methods and principles of education to pupils functioning at the Lower or Upper school level; maintain an interest in the positive improvement and development of children, adolescents, or adults of normal and/or impaired learning ability; maintain proper discipline; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students. Excellent written and oral communication skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in English. Preferred: Currently hold or be eligible for a Teacher's License with endorsement in English. Masters Degree from accredited institution. Terms of Employment LOCATION: As Needed WORK SCHEDULE: 7:30 a.m. - ? p.m. SALARY SCALE: Teacher FLSA STATUS: Exempt Physical requirements and Disclaimer PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees, students and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Work is typically performed in a school setting including; classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be required. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Daily personal and close contact with students to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents/guardians is required. Frequent contact with parents/guardians by phone and in person is necessary.
