Cary, NC • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 8 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end client onboarding and data migration projects from legacy EHR vendors into target architectures.

  • Develop, scale, and optimize core integration channels within the GCP cloud environment, including building reusable templates and modernizing legacy data structures.

  • Act as the senior technical authority during client discovery, perform validations, and ensure successful high-stakes data migrations.

Job description

Description:

As a Lead Healthcare Integration Specialist, you will spearhead client onboarding implementations, architect end-to-end data migrations from legacy EHR systems, and modernize EHR integrations within our GCP cloud ecosystem.

Role Overview

This is a 100% remote position within the United States. In this highly technical, hands-on leadership role, you will be the driving force behind migrating complex customer clinical datasets onto our systems and engineering scalable integration products. You will skip high-level management fluff to write code, configure pipelines, and actively scale our data exchange capabilities inside Google Cloud Platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Implementations & EHR Migrations:
    • Lead end-to-end client onboarding and data migration projects from legacy EHR vendors (e.g., Epic, Cerner, MEDITECH, eClinicalWorks) into target architectures.
    • Extract, parse, map, and validate massive historical clinical datasets including demographics, laboratory results, medications, and clinical notes.
    • Establish reliable VPN connections, MLLP endpoints, and secure REST/SOAP API channels directly with client-side IT systems.
  • Platform Improvement & GCP Cloud Engineering:
    • Develop, scale, and optimize core integration channels within our Mirth Connect interface engine using JavaScript, established integration patterns, and best practices.
    • Build reusable, parameterized channel templates and code libraries to decrease client implementation times from months to days.
    • Modernize legacy data structures by engineering automated transformation pipelines into FHIR API frameworks and cloud environments.
    • Deploy, manage, and optimize integration workflows hosted within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing tools like Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run to stream or process clinical payloads.
  • Technical Client Leadership:
    • Act as the senior technical authority during client discovery calls, translating their unique data layouts into standard architectural schemas.
    • Perform deep-dive unit testing, system-level validations, and technical rehearsals to guarantee zero data loss during high-stakes go-live migration windows.
Requirements: Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 7+ years in healthcare IT integration, with a proven track record of successfully executing multi-EHR client implementations and data migrations.
  • Mirth Connect Mastery: Elite, hands-on expertise building, debugging, and administering channels within Mirth Connect, with heavy reliance on custom JavaScript transformation logic.
  • Cloud Architecture: Practical experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure, specifically around managing containers, serverless data processing, or secure storage pathways.
  • Technical Stack: Deep fluency in HL7 v2/v3, C-CDA, FHIR APIs, SQL databases, and structured data formats (JSON, XML).
  • EHR Architecture: Deep familiarity with data schemas, extraction methods, and messaging constraints across major commercial EHR platforms (e.g., Epic Bridges, Cerner Open Engine).
  • Remote Delivery: High autonomy with the ability to lead technical client engagements independently, manage code delivery timelines, and collaborate asynchronously.
