Job description

Job Title: GCMS Analyst Location: Arvada, CO 80002 (Onsite) Type: Contract-to-Hire (approx. 5 months) Schedule: M–F, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM or 4:00 PM–12:00 AM (40 hours/week) Compensation: $23.00/hr (+ 10% shift differential); potential for higher hourly rate w/ hands-on industry GC experience Overview System One is seeking a GCMS Analyst to support a fast-paced, high-volume environmental laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with strong lab fundamentals or an early-career analyst with hands-on Gas Chromatography (GC) experience to join a growing team and contribute to routine environmental testing and reporting. Responsibilities

  • Test environmental samples for pollutants and chemical constituents using established methods
  • Prepare and process samples per required testing protocols (sample prep through analysis)
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GC and GC-MS instrumentation
  • Perform instrument setup, calibration, data collection, review, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements
  • Follow all safety and lab protocols (EHS; GMP/GLP where applicable)
  • Support general lab tasks as needed (e.g., aliquoting, cleaning glassware)
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related)
  • Strong laboratory experience required; GC experience strongly preferred
  • Internship and/or industry lab experience (typically 6 months–2 years)
  • Ability to work independently while meeting time and quality requirements
  • Comfortable with basic math/calculations and following written/verbal procedures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Preferred Qualifications: direct, hands-on GC experience in an industry lab setting (running samples yourself vs. observing); experience with routine, high-volume sample processing environments
