Job Description
Responsible for configuring and maintaining Solaris and Red Hat servers in support of established requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to Solaris and Red Hat operating systems and layered software packages. Monitors and tunes the systems to achieve optimum performance. Conducts routine software audits for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Job Duties:
โ€ข Checking server operability on a daily basis.
โ€ข Troubleshooting of operating system and hardware errors.
โ€ข Installing operating system and system software.
โ€ข Configuring operating system and system software.
โ€ข Securing of operating system and system software.
โ€ข Applying best practices for tuning the operating system for overall system performance.
โ€ข Monitoring system performance, make recommendations as applicable.
โ€ข Regularly installing operating system patches for security and system performance.
โ€ข Evaluating and responding to IAVA Certs and Bulletins.
โ€ข Developing of shell scripts to assist in automating the administration process for all systems.
โ€ข Maintaining system configuration documentation, including run books, software installation instructions, operating system installation and system configuration sheets.
โ€ข Providing after hours support as required.
Key Competencies:
Knowledge of Solaris 10 and Red Hat Linux (5,6,7)
Qualifications
Must possess ONE of the following: CompTIA Security+, GAIC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC), ISC2 Certification Authorization Professional.
Please note that General, Specialized and Supervisory Work Experience may be earned concurrently.
Successful candidates must possess and maintain a successful government background check.
