Job description

The Lead Gate Clerk position is to facilitate various activities that occur in the guard shack and assist the office in other capacities as required. The Lead Gate Clerk leads a team of gate clerks that ensures all shipments at the facility are compliant with customer and regulatory standards. In addition, this position will ensure all reporting requirements are met and aid in the shipment process.
Responsibilities
  • Process Inbound and Outbound loads
  • Check in and maintain security with outside carriers.
  • Perform yard audits as needed.
  • Ensure gate clerks keep accurate records of all inbound and outbound trailers.
  • Ensure gate clerks check seals and numbers on all inbound and outbound trails.
  • Review schedule and time-off requests to ensure coverage at all times.
  • Communicate any issues and/or changes in a timely manner with Ops Mgr. and/or GM.
  • Security-adjacent tasks such as gate management and perimeter reporting
  • Prioritize and process both Inbound and Outbound paperwork and BOLs (Bill of Lading)
  • Assist in maintaining consistent flow of freight for timely outbound.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The ability to work in a fast paced and always changing environment.
  • Ability to Multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to compile and record data in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Have knowledge of customer and company requirements regarding shipping and receiving

Education/Experience
  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of leadership or equivalent supervisory experience preferred
  • 2+ years' experience in an administrative capacity preferred
  • 2+ Years Customer Service Experience preferred.
  • HighJump WMs experience is preferred but not required.
  • Transportation or warehouse experience preferred.
