Overview

The Rhode Island Energy Gas Retail Scheduler is responsible for on-system scheduling of natural gas supplies on downstream pipelines and distribution system and pipeline nominations for customer choice programs to reliably serve the company's utility customers in accordance with company procedures, including daily monitoring activities. In addition, in conjunction with other gas supply team members, the Scheduler will identify pipeline and storage transactions to optimize the company's gas supply resource portfolio in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. The Gas Retail Scheduler will be required to gain knowledge of the new energy trading and risk management systems and ensuring Customer Choice activity is recorded in the system as required. 


Responsibilities

Plays a key role in a newly-formed organization to develop downstream pipeline nomination and scheduling procedures and systems.

Support the Gas Procurement team in meeting Pipeline Operations goals and Customer Choice program objectives.

Adhere to all PPL RI regulatory and management compliance requirements.

Develop knowledge of the Company’s Customer Choice program including providing nomination requirements to natural gas marketers; and acting as Company representative in certain communications with natural gas marketers.

Understands contractual rights and types of services as defined by the interstate pipeline tariffs and apply those concepts to the scheduling process.

Nominates natural gas flows on interstate pipeline electronic bulletin boards (“EBBs”) and in compliance with relevant Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulations.

Identifies and posts on interstate pipeline EBBs transportation and storage capacity that is available for release or subject to the company’s mandatory capacity assignment program

Monitors daily information on pipeline EBBs including scheduled v. actual flows and changes or cuts to scheduled volumes.

Actively reconciles, manages, and mitigates any volume imbalances resulting from differences between nominated and confirmed volumes.

Fielding inquiries from natural gas marketers and providing timely responses.

Manage and utilize internal/external Customer Choice EBB’s and computer systems.

Data analysis and disseminating information as required.

In conjunction with Gas Control and Manager Gas Supply Portfolio Optimization, issue Operational Flow Orders (OFOs) and track natural gas marketer compliance with OFOs.

Develop monthly volumes and charges to support the Company’s billing process for natural gas marketers.

Maintain working knowledge of RIE’s pipeline and storage contracts. When required, assist in regulatory filings affecting natural gas deliveries to the Company. Identify and implement approved program changes.

Ensures all scheduling activities and interstate pipeline tariff information are fully captured, documented, and summarized in the company’s gas management system for accounting and billing purposes.

Executes capacity releases and assignments on the interstate pipeline EBBs necessary to comply with The Company’s Customer Choice program.

Performs other duties as assigned
