Job description

Job Responsibilities: We are presently seeking Gas Mechanic A for an opening in Watertown, NY. In addition to a starting wage of $37.81 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.

Under direct supervision to operate air compressors, all pneumatic or hydraulic tools and automotive equipment including all accessory equipment such as winches and dump bodies; to assist gas mechanics of higher grade in the more complicated types of gas maintenance, repair and construction work; to perform field clerical work as required; and as proficiency increases to perform work of progressively increasing variety and complexity. Under general supervision to make inspections of gas facilities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have one year's educational background in electrical, mechanical or gas theory or twelve (12) months' experience in related mechanical work.
  • Must pass physical abilities examination.
  • Must pass validated aptitude test.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a safe driving history that meets National Grids Safe Driver Policy
  • Must have high school diploma or GED

NOTE: Employees who demonstrate their aptitude for the work and establish a satisfactory record during one year of employment in this position will be promoted to a Gas Mechanic B. A satisfactory record must include the successful completion of Gas Mechanic B school.

Salary:

  • $37.81/Hr

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
