Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aviation Systems Engineer 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. This team is a group of passionate pilots and aviation enthusiasts. In this role, you will assist in furthering our mission or bringing disruptive technology to the Experimental/Amateur-Build, Light-Sport, and Part 23 aviation markets by supporting the successful conception, development, and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems.
Essential Functions
  • Defines and maintains system architectures and requirements
  • Establishes product-specific execution plans for system-level aspects compatible with Garmin processes, including discussions with external customers - individuals and companies
  • Identifies and documents technical scope of change in support of small changes to already supported functionality or interfaces
  • Identifies and resolves defects using proper engineering tools and techniques
  • Plans and executes integration testing to validate user experience and verify system requirements
  • Provides technical content for system design and description documentation
  • Proactively improves processes, tools, and procedures

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or another related technical field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving ability
  • Experience with Systems Integration activities
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with other
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in an Engineering field
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated passion for and involvement in the aviation community
  • Operational knowledge of Garmin or competitive avionics
  • Previous work or internship experience with consumer or aviation products
