Job description

Position Summary

The Technical Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed technical packages (tech packs) that support the development and production of women’s apparel. This role ensures styles are executed accurately by our manufacturing partners by translating design intent into clear specifications for fit, measurements, construction, and overall quality.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design and Pre-Production teams, with guidance from the Sr. Designer or Manager, to achieve the intended fit, aesthetic, and construction.
  • Build and update complete product packages in PLM, including measurements, construction details, bill of materials notes, and technical sketches.
  • Create and maintain fit, measurement, and construction standards to support brand consistency and quality.
  • Review fit history with the Senior Technical Designer or Manager when presenting current fit updates and recommend construction alternatives or component options as needed.
  • Identify, resolve, and communicate fit and construction issues to factories within development and production timelines.
  • Maintain daily communication and follow-through with vendors and cross-functional partners.
  • Prepare for and participate in fit sessions, including garment review, measurement verification, and construction evaluation.
  • Compile and distribute clear post–fit session comments and corrections to factories.
  • Develop detailed specifications, construction callouts, and sketches to support accurate execution.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of bulk production to ensure final product meets approved standards.
  • Support the Technical Design team with day-to-day tasks and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Technical Design experience.
  • Strong understanding of fit, patternmaking, garment construction, and materials.
  • Excellent eye for proportion, balance, and design detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable partnering with internal teams and international factories.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in PLM, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.
