Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for establishing and maintaining genuine customer care, oversees and is accountable for the operation of a garden center, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resources management and managing operating costs and shrinkage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives store sales by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customer projects needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly
  • Maintains quality and stock levels of the Garden Center
  • Monitors the cleanliness of the Garden Center daily
  • Provides information to customers on the care of flowers and plants
  • Develops, implements, maintains, and coordinates aggressive and creative merchandising plans which maximize sales and variety
  • Supervises Garden Center Associates to ensure efficient labor utilization and effectiveness in meeting department objectives
  • Manages the Garden Center department receiving, invoicing, pricing, shrink control, and inventory to ensure proper product control and gross profit goals are met
  • Supervises the Garden Center safety
  • Follows and NFI policies and procedures along with any State and Federal Regulations.

  • Manages 2-4 Associates in the garden center. 
  • Provide direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Garden Center and Associates.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Horticulture helpful
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Possess product knowledge of garden center related products

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Write routine reports and correspondence 
  • Present information and respond to questions from customers or Associates

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)
